Ground is continuously supplied to the low side of the antilock brake system (ABS) pump motor. The electronic brake and traction control module (EBTCM) activates the ABS pump motor by energizing the pump motor relay, allowing battery voltage to the high side of the motor.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC C0110 Pump Motor Circuit
The ignition is ON.
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects an open or shorted pump motor circuit, or a fault in the pump motor relay.
• | The ABS telltale will be ON. |
• | The ABS control module will disable the ABS, the traction control system (TCS), and the dynamic rear proportion (DRP). |
The Conditions for Setting the DTC are no longer present and you use the scan tool Clear DTCs function.
• | The pump relay and motor are NOT serviceable. |
• | The valve assembly, with control module, must be replaced. |

Important: New ABS control modules will automatically set DTC C0551 when installed. To clear DTC C0551, new modules must be configured with the correct engine and transmission option bit. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement . Replace the EBCM and the BPMV. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming and Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
