SA9101E Piston Pin Retainer/Replacer
- Check the fit between the piston and pin.
Try to move the piston back and forth on the piston pin. If any movement is felt,
measure the piston pin to piston and connecting rod clearance.

Important: The piston and pin are a matched set. Arrange
the pistons, pins, rings, connecting rods, and bearings in the correct order.
- Remove the piston rings.
2.1. | Using a piston ring expander, remove the compression
rings. |
2.2. | Remove the oil ring by hand. |
- Disconnect the connecting rod from the piston.
3.1. | Using a small screwdriver, remove the snap rings from the piston. |
| Notice: Carefully remove any burrs in the piston bore, next to the snap ring groove,
using an X-ACTO knife (or equivalent). This will prevent piston pin scoring
during removal.

3.2. | Using a plastic-faced hammer and the SA9101E
, support the piston and lightly tap out the piston pin. |
3.3. | Remove the connecting rod. |
