SA9101E Piston Pin Retainer/Replacer


    Object Number: 871183  Size: SH
  1. Check the fit between the piston and pin.
  2. Try to move the piston back and forth on the piston pin. If any movement is felt, measure the piston pin to piston and connecting rod clearance.

    Specifications

    Piston Pin to Piston

        • Standard: 0.002-0.011 mm (0.0001-0.0004 in)
        • Service Limit: 0.011 mm (0.0004 in) max.

    Specifications

    Piston Pin to Connecting Rod

        • Standard: 0.006-0.024 mm (0.0002-0.0009 in)
        • Service Limit: 0.024 mm (0.0009 in) max.

    Important: The piston and pin are a matched set. Arrange the pistons, pins, rings, connecting rods, and bearings in the correct order.

  3. Remove the piston rings.

  4. Object Number: 877201  Size: SH
    2.1. Using a piston ring expander, remove the compression rings.
    2.2. Remove the oil ring by hand.

  5. Disconnect the connecting rod from the piston.
  6. 3.1. Using a small screwdriver, remove the snap rings from the piston.

    Object Number: 877211  Size: SH

            Notice: Carefully remove any burrs in the piston bore, next to the snap ring groove, using an X-ACTO knife (or equivalent). This will prevent piston pin scoring during removal.

    3.2. Using a plastic-faced hammer and the SA9101E , support the piston and lightly tap out the piston pin.
    3.3. Remove the connecting rod.
