The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Door lock actuators cycle and interior light turns on and off at random. Customer may comment that the problem is related to vibration, speed bumps etc. Customer may also observe that it occurs more frequently in cold conditions. This concern can be caused
by a door latch switch, sending a ground signal indicating that the door is open. Engineering has found that right side door latches, front or rear with a Julian date code of "5313" to "5321" are suspect.
Recommendation/Instructions:
- Inspect the Julian date on the right side door latches. The Julian date is etched into the latch at the striker opening.
- To isolate what switch is the cause, it will be necessary to unplug one door latch switch at a time.
- After unplugging a door latch switch, test drive the vehicle and see if the concern is gone. It may be necessary to park the vehicle outside so the vehicle gets cold again prior to test driving it. If the concern is gone, replace that door latch
assembly.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
