RPA Dealer Installed Accessories, Labor Operation Number Z6998 - keywords grille spoiler

This PI was updated to add 2006 Model Year and to add the Buick Allure. Please discard PIC3353.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Several questions have recently surfaced on what operation numbers are used when a dealer is installing an RPA Accessory. What to do if the part (spoiler is an appropriate example) is not painted. Several misapplications of the correct labor code or failure of the warranty administrator at the dealer level to utilize the appropriate time allotted to the technician(s) to install or paint and install the RPA.

The appropriate Z Operation number can be found for the Buick LaCrosse, Buick Allure, and Pontiac Grand Prix by looking up Labor Operation Z6998 in the Labor Time Guide for the vehicle. This Z Operation Number includes Add Times for Spoiler Installation, Painting the Spoiler if supplied in prime only, Chrome Grille Inserts, and Styled Exhaust Tips (Grand Prix only).

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
