The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Unwanted Vehicle Stability Enhancement System (VSES or Stabilitrak) and/or DTC C0710 after the Steering Wheel Position Sensor (SWPS) is replaced. There may also be ABS activation at low speeds during parking lot maneuvers without brake input.

Recommendation/Instructions:

When servicing the SWPS it is possible to install the sensor upside down. Inspect the SWPS for proper orientation. The connector should be plugged into the sensor from the top of the steering column (steering wheel side not the intermediate shaft side). The SWPS data (displayed as VSES Steering Angle Sensor on the Tech2) can also be monitored to check for the proper SWPS orientation.

Normal SWPS readings from center:

Left turn = positive degrees

Right turn = negative degrees

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
