The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Buick LaCrosse / Allure, if a customer comment is received on a wind whistle/air rush noise that appears to come from the lower windshield area, it may be the hood to grille seal. All vehicles at the Oshawa Assembly Center were retrofitted with a newer type seal prior to shipment to dealers. This newer seal however, may not resolve the condition completely.
To diagnose the condition is very simple. Tape to close the area between the hood and grille with the hood closed and drive the vehicle. If the noise disappears, the condition that appears to be coming from lower windshield area is actually originating from the hood to grille seal in question.
Access the hood latch and loosen the 4 primary latch to radiator core support attaching bolts. Lower the hood primary latch to the bottom of its travel and re tighten the primary hood latch attaching bolts. Check the hood to grille and hood to front facia fit and retest the vehicle for the customer's primary concern.
If the noise is still present, the primary hood latch to radiator core support attaching bolts may require further adjustment downward to obtain the correct hood to grille seal that will eliminate the customer's concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
