Condition
Some customers may comment that the console armrest door will not to latch.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the latch spring (1) inside the armrest lid assembly popping out of the mounting pins. This may result in loose spring tension in the latch.
Correction
Inspect the console lid latch, spring mounting pins and reinstall the latch spring.
- Inspect the console lid latch.
• | If the latch is damaged, replace the front console door/lid assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Rear Compartment Door Replacement in SI. |
• | If the latch moves freely and is not damaged, proceed to the next step. |
- Remove the floor console hinge screws from the console armrest lid.
- Position the armrest lid on a clean workbench with the latch side up.
- Remove the eleven TORX® screws that secure the lid liner to the armrest cushion.
- Separate the liner from the armrest cushion as shown in the illustration.
- Inspect the spring mounting pins for damage. If any of the pins are damaged, the front console lid assembly will need to be replaced. Refer to Front Floor Console Rear Compartment Door Replacement in SI.
- If the spring is out of position and the mounting pins are intact, reinstall the spring.
- Place the spring into the mounts on either side of the liner and against the back side of the latch arm as shown in the illustration.
- Verify proper operation of the latch assembly by cycling the latch assembly ten times. There should be constant spring tension on the latch when cycling.
- Assemble the liner to the armrest cushion and install the eleven TORX® screws.
- Tighten the eleven TORX® screws.
Tighten
Tighten the liner TORX® screws to 2 N·m(18 lb in).
- Install the armrest lid assembly to the front floor console hinge and install the TORX® screws.
- Tighten the front floor console hinge screws.
Tighten
Tighten the hinge TORX® screws to 2 N·m(18 lb in).
