Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment.
- Use a grease pencil to mark the hinge to the rear compartment lid for the location at installation.
- Disconnect the lid harness in the rear compartment.
- Remove the rear compartment hinge to lid nuts. Refer to
Rear Compartment Lid Replacement .
- Remove the rear compartment struts. Refer to
Rear Compartment Lid Strut Replacement .
- Use a grease pencil to mark the quarter panel hinge to the quarter panel. The mark will help you align the hinge at installation.
- Remove the bolts that attach the hinge to the rear quarter.
- Remove the hinge from the quarter panel.
Installation Procedure
- Align the hinge to the alignment marks that was made on the quarter panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts that attach the hinge to the rear quarter.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the rear compartment struts. Refer to
Rear Compartment Lid Strut Replacement .
- Install the rear compartment lid nuts. Refer to
Rear Compartment Lid Replacement .
- Adjust the rear compartment lid height:
• | Use an Allen wrench to turn the rear compartment hinge height adjustment bumper. |
• | Turn the rear compartment lid bumper by hand. |
- Close the rear compartment.
