Info - Fuel Gage Reads Backwards After Changing Fuel Level Sensor/Sender Card

Subject:Fuel Gauge Reads Backwards After Changing Fuel Level Sensor/Sender Card

Models:2007 Buick Allure (Canada Only), LaCrosse
2007 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo
2007 Pontiac Grand Prix

Technicians should be advised that after the fuel level sensor (sender card) is replaced, the fuel gauge may read backwards. This condition may occur due to improper installation of a 2006 or prior fuel sender card into a 2007 model year vehicle.

The resistance of the fuel level sensor for the 2007 MY is 40 ohms when the fuel tank is full and 250 ohms when the fuel tank is empty. On the 2006 MY and prior vehicles, the resistance of the fuel level sensor is 250 ohms when the fuel tank is full and 40 ohms when empty. For this reason, when replacing a fuel level sensor, the 2007 MY part number must be used for the 2007 vehicles and the 2006 MY parts must be used on the 2006 vehicles. The fuel level sensor is NOT interchangeable between model years.
