Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 12302 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the crankshaft harmonic balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
  4. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
  5. Remove the CKP sensor shield (1). DO NOT use a pry bar.

  6. Remove the CKP sensor studs.
  7. Remove the CKP sensor.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 12303 Size: SH
  1. Install the CKP sensor.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the CKP sensor studs.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the studs to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  3. Install the CKP sensor shield (1).
  4. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
  5. Install the crankshaft harmonic balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  8. Perform the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn.
