PARK BRAKE EQUALIZER NOISE INSTALL INSULATOR AS OUTLINED

MODELS AFFECTED: 1982-87 CENTURYS

Some Centurys may develop a rattle at the park brake equalizer located on the forward side of the rear axle. This "rattle" noise often is transmitted along the park brake cable and sounds like it's coming from the left front area of the vehicle. The "rattle" can be eliminated by the installation of an insulator, Part Number 10055178, (See Illustration). To install the insulator, loosen the park brake adjuster until the front cable can be removed from the cable connector (located at the end of the right hand cable). Remove the front cable from the equalizer and install the insulator.

Reinstall the front cable and adjust the park brake per the Buick Chassis Service Manual.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
