LOCKING WIRE WHEEL COVERS

MODEL AFFECTED: 1983

The custom locking wire wheel cover package (Option N91) is shipped in the trunk compartment. This package contains the locking wire wheel covers, lock brackets, lock bolts, medallions, lock key wrench and I.D./Registration Card. The standard wheel lug nuts are installed on the wheel and the twelve (12) special lug nuts are placed in the trunk compartment in a separate plastic bag. In some cases special nuts may be installed at the assembly plant.

At the time of delivery of a new vehicle by the carrier, the contents of the package containing Option N91 are to be inspected for missing or incorrect parts.

In addition, the trunk compartment is to he inspected for the plastic bag containing the special lug nuts.

Any discrepancies are to be noted on the deliver receipt and a transportation claim is to be filed for any missing or incorrect parts.

REPLACEMENT OF MISSING, INCORRECT OR LOST PARTS

Lock key wrenches and/or I.D./Registration Cards, are available from Norris Industries.

A. Lock key wrench missing upon delivery of vehicle from factory or lost at dealership after delivery.

Send I.D./Registration Card along with a check in the amount of $7.50 for the replacement lock key wrench to Norris Industries.

B. I.D./Registration Card missing.

Provide the applicable company with the color of the stripe on the lock key wrench. A new color coordinated I.D./Registration Card will be forwarded to the dealership.

C. Lock key wrench does not fit lock bolt.

Send lock key wrench and I.D./Registration Card to Norris Industries with a letter indicating the color of the lock bolt in the center of the locking wire wheel cover. The proper lock key wrench and I.D./Registration Card will be returned to the dealership.

D. I.D./Registration Card and lock key wrench both missing.

Provide the color of the lock bolt in the center of the wire wheel cover, along with a check in the amount of $7.50 made payable to the Norris Industries. The proper lock key wrench and I.D./Registration Card will be forwarded to your dealership.

Locking wire wheel covers require a "T" shaped lock key wrench. Their wrench will have an alpha letter stamped on its cylinder portion to match the lock bolt letter.

Other missing or incorrect part(s) such as a locking wire wheel cover(s), lock bracket(s), medallion(s) and special lug nut(s) are available through GMWDD. See Figure 1 for parts illustration.

In addition to individual components, a complete locking wire wheel package (Option N91) is available by Norris through GMWDD for the 1983 models. This package contains the following componets. Four (4) locking wire wheel covers, four (4) medallions, four (4) lock brackets, four (4) lock bolts, four (4) valve extensions, (12) lug nuts, one (1) key wrench, one (1) Registration Card and Installation Instructions. Listed below are the part numbers for this package.

When the vehicle is being made ready for delivery, the lock brackets are to be installed prior to installation of the wire wheel cover and medallions.

1. Raise vehicle with lift equipment.

2. Remove three (3) lug nuts from each wheel for lock bracket installation - refer to illustration. Figure 2.

3. Place lock bracket on lug nut studs.

*Adapter - B car with 15" X 7" wheels

4. Install three (3) special lug nuts on each wheel to retain lock bracket and torque to specifications. LOOSE CONDITION OF LOCK BRACKET WILL BE NORMAL. WHEN LUG NUTS ARE SEATED, FRONT WHEEL STUDS WILL HAVE A RECESSED APPEARANCE, WHICH IS NORMAL.

5. Install wheel cover on wheel.

6. Tighten lock bolt with lock key wrench.

7. Snap in center madallion.

8. Install removal label to underside of deck lid next to jacking instruction label.

9. The lock key wrench is to be placed in the grove box along with the I.D./Registration Card.

Individual lock bolts and wrenches may be obtained by ordering from GMWDD as follows:
