Effective July 1, 1983 a new extended service parts limited warranty is in effect. This new extended parts limited warranty applies to engine assemblies, transmission assemblies and Blue Line shock absorbers. The full scope of information is in the General Motors Parts and Accessories information bulletin 83-132.
The submission of warranty claims, case type 'B' - service parts replacement warranty, and case type 'C' - over counter parts replacement warranty will remain the same with one exception; the failure code must be '88' in order to properly identify the claim. As in the past, these claims will require prior zone authorization. Any other related warranty information is outlined on page 1 and 2 of the above mentioned General Motors Parts bulletin.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
