The following operations require removal and replacement of the carburetor air horn which necessitates the replacement of the air horn gasket, these gaskets must be replaced and retained for scrapping by the DSM whenever these operation numbers are used.

J 5030 Gasket, carburetor air horn - replace J 5040 Air horn, carburetor - replace J 5050 Float, carburetor - adjust J 5060 Float, carburetor - replace J 5070 Needle and seat, carburetor - replace J 5080 Pump, carburetor, accelerator - replace J 5090 Jets, main metering - replace J 5306 Carburetor - internal adjustments T 5057 This T operatim requires that the air horn gasket be replaced when making internal adjustments on a 1983 Dualjet or Quadrajet.

The following operations require the removal and replacement of the carburetor and would necessitate the replacement of the throttle body gasket:

J 5100 Bowl, carburetor float - replace J 5115 Gasket, carburetor throttle body - replace J 5120 Throttle body, carburetor - replace

The following operations also require removal and replacement of the carburetor:

J 5125 Gasket, carburetor base - replace J 5126 EFE heater, carburetor base gasket (insulator) - replace J 5140 Carburetor - replace J 5309 Idle mixture check

The majority of Buick engines now use the early fuel evaporation grid under the carburetor and do not use a base gasket. It is not necessary to replace the EFE grid each time the carburetor is removed, the EFE grid should only be replaced when failed or damaged.
