DIESEL STALL AFTER WARM UP FAULTY INJECTOR PUMP

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1982-4 'G' and 'A' Series Vehicles Equipped With V-6 Diesels

CONDITION

This correction applies to V-6 diesel engines that may stop running while parking, when backing up, or after coming to a stop after being driven at highway speeds for several miles. The mileage that the vehicle is driven before it stops running may vary from 40 to 80 Km or more. In each case, the engine can be restarted immediately with no problem.

CORRECTION

1. Remove the injection pump from the vehicle and submit it to a Roosa Master dealer for repair.

2. Request that the Roosa Master dealer perform the correction for stalling per Stanadyne Service Bulletin 401.

3. Reinstall the injection pump on the car.

4. Reset the vacuum regulator valve.

5. Warmup the engine completely. With the engine warm:

a. Check and set dynamic timing to specifications.

b. Set the idle speed 25 rpm higher than the specifications on the emissions label.

c. Set the fast idle 25 rpm above specifications after it is determined it is working properly.

WARRANTY INFORMATION

Use existing labour operation and time allowance, which includes adjusting pump timing. Use applicable trouble code.
