NEW DESIGN FUEL SYS. PULSATOR TO REDUCE FUEL PUMP NOISE

MODELS AFFECTED: SOME 1984 THRU 1987 BUICK MODELS EQUIPPED WITH PORT FUEL INJECTED ENGINES (VIN CODES W, L, 3, AND B)

Some models equipped with port fuel injected engines may develop a fuel pump noise condition which some customers might consider to be at an objectionable level.

Bulletins 86-6C-2 and 87-6C-3 provide step-by-step procedures to correct this condition on Electras/LeSabres and Centurys respectively. However, a new design pulsator has superseded the part numbers mentioned in those bulletins.

NOTICE: If the pulsator is the source of the noise, the condition may be described as a grinding, growling or gurgling noise, rather than a rattle or whine from the fuel tank area.

The new pulsator Part Number is 25094266 and can be easily identified by the new style (double convexed) metal cover, as illustrated.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
