HARD/NO START AFTER HOT SOAK IN HIGH ALTITUDE AREAS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986 CENTURYS WITH THE LE2 2.8L V6 ENGINE (VIN CODE X)

With high ambient temperatures, particularly in high altitude areas, some 1986 Centurys equipped with the LE2 2.8L engine may experience a "no restart" or "hard restart" (long crank) condition after being shut off for 10-45 minutes. Other vehicles may start and then immediately stop running. These vehicles may not restart until the engine has cooled down. These conditions may be caused by fuel starvation (vapor lock) and can be repaired by the installation of an engine cooling fan delay relay kit, Part Number 10094719, available from GMSPO. This kit includes an installation instruction sheet.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
