Some Centurys may experience a slow or incomplete service brake pedal return as a result of a slight bind between the eyelet end of the brake booster pushrod and brake pedal arm attaching hardware. This condition can be repaired by replacing the original flat washer with a new precision, hardened washer, Part Number 10087739 (See Illustration). Adequately lubricate the pushrod and washers and retorque attaching nut, Part Number 11500756, to 35 N.m. After installing the new washer, recheck for slow or incomplete service brake pedal return by lightly applying the service brake several times with the engine running and observing the pedal return.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
