MOULDING - ROOF DRIP CENTER MOULDING RETAINER CRACKING/BREAKING
Some comments have been made that the roof drip moulding retainer cracks or breaks on some of the subject vehicles. This condition may exist on subject vehicles assembled between January 1, 1987 and May 15, 1987.
This condition was repaired in production effective May 15, 1987 at the assembly plants by using an alternate material. Service repair consists of replacing the cracked/broken retainer with a revised moulding retainer available through the Parts Department.
1. Remove screws from windshield pillar scalp moulding (1) and slide downward and away from retainer (2) and drip scalp moulding (3). See Illustration.
2. Remove roof drip scalp moulding (3) by unsnapping it from scalp moulding retainer (2).
3. Remove quarter window.
4. Remove screws along retainer (2) and disengage retainer from roll.
5. To install, reverse removal procedure and roll roof drip scalp moulding upward onto retainer.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
