PCV VALVE RUBBER ELBOW-LOOSE/DISCONNECTED
Some 1987 A, N and P cars with 2.5L L4 engines (VIN Code R and U) may experience vacuum leaks and subsequently set a Code 35 in the ECM.
This condition may be caused by a disconnection of the rubber elbow from the PCV valve which could have occurred during vehicle assembly and/or during repair.
If an engine is diagnosed through normal service procedures as having a loose or disconnected PCV valve rubber elbow, install a clamp P/N 10044319, in the location shown (See Diagram). Crimp the clamp with tool J35566 or equivalent.
Use applicable labour operation and time.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
