INOPERATIVE COOLING FAN WITH HIGH A/C HEAD PRESSURE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1986-87 "A" CAR WITH 2.8L (LB6) ENGINE AND A/C -----------------

Condition: The engine cooling fan may not operate when the A/C head --------- pressure is high, which could lead to insufficient A/C cooling, or an overheated engine.

Cause: The retaining ramp on the cooling fan pressure switch is ------ backwards. This was changed in production early in the 1988 model year by first using a tie-strap, and then by changing the ramp on the switch.

Correction: Use a plastic tie-strap to secure the connector to the switch ---------- (See Illustration).Replacement of the switch is not necessary.
