A comment of a floor pan squeak noise on a 1988 Century can be eliminated by creating clearance between the two possible contact points of the rear right hand bracket and floor pan of the drivers seat.
1. Remove the driver seat assembly as described in the Service Manual (Section 9A).
2. Remove rear seat cushion assembly and left hand side sill plate moldings to remove carpet.
3. Lift the carpet up to get access to the rear right hand seat bracket.
4. Use appropriate tool to bend burr at the trim angle to create the clearance between the seat bracket and the floor pan. (See Illustration).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
