Identifiers for the 3rd clutch (fiber) plate assemblies for all 1986 through 1991 HYDRA-MATIC 4T60, 4T60-E or THM F-7 transaxles. The 3rd clutch plate assemblies discussed in Service Bulletin #86-7440-109 and #89-7440-111 have many different identifier markings. To avoid confusion, it is recommended to order all overhaul and 3rd clutch plate assembly packages by the model and year of the transaxle.
SERVICE PROCEDURE: Refer to Figure 1 --------------------------------------- When servicing a HYDRA-MATIC 4T60, 4T60-E or THM F-7 transaxle, you may notice the 3rd clutch (fiber) plate assemblies have different markings. Listed below are all of the variations of identifiers for the 3rd clutch (fiber) plate assemblies used in all 1986 to the present model transaxles.
1986, 1987 and 1988 models (single sided plates): - Four dark blue or black stripes - Four yellow stripes
1989 to present models: - No stripes with or without the "V" notch - Four dark blue or black stripes and the "V" notch - Four white stripes and the "V" notch - Four yellow stripes with or without the "V" notch - Four very faded yellow stripes with or without the "V" notch
