Some early 1990 Century models may exhibit an inside handle to lock rod that becomes disengaged at the lock end during operation. This condition may be due to a rod with an incorrect bend length at the lock end.
If the condition is present, it may be corrected by using the following parts and procedures:
Inside Handle To Lock Rods: Coupes Right - 10177206 Left - 10177207
Wagons and Sedans Right - 10160496 Left - 10160497
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

3. Rotate clip on lock end of rod to disengage, remove rod and discard.
4. Install rod into clip on lock lever and rotate clip to retain rod.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
