HOOD RELEASE MECHANISM DIFFICULT TO OPERATE

SUBJECT: HOOD RELEASE MECHANISM DIFFICULT TO OPERATE (LUBRICATE BOTH ENDS OF CABLE HOUSING)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1989-90 CENTURY

CONDITION:

---------- Hood release mechanism is difficult to operate.

CAUSE:

------ Inadequate lubrication of release cable.

CORRECTION:

----------- Inject Teflon or silicone-based lubricant (Tri-Flow, GM Lubricant PN 1052277, or equivalent) into both ends of the cable housing using spray tube. Removal of cable is not necessary. Operate the cable with the hood up to work the lubricant through the cable housing. Repeat five times to insure adequate cable lubrication.
