SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ON A SMELL OF OVERHEATED PLASTIC, AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT MAY BE ON.
THE ENGINE WIRE HARNESS, UNDER CERTAIN BUILD CONDITIONS, MAY CONTACT THE EXHAUST PIPE SHIELD. THE HEAT MAY MELT THROUGH THE WIRE HARNESS CONDUIT, AND SOMETIMES THROUGH THE WIRE INSULATION, CAUSING A SHORT IN AN ENGINE CONTROL CIRCUIT. A PRODUCTION CHANGE WAS INCORPORATED AFTER THE FOLLOWING VIN'S TO ELIMINATE THIS CONDITION.

REPAIR THE WIRE HARNESS AS NEEDED. ADD A TIE STRAP, AT LEAST 14" LONG, IN THE AREA SHOWN, TO PREVENT THE WIRE HARNESS FROM TOUCHING THE SHIELD. P/N 12355068, OR EQUIVALENT, CAN BE USED.
