SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT ADHESIVE OOZES OUT FROM BETWEEN THE BACKGLASS REVEAL MOLDING AND GLASS SURFACE.
MAY BE DUE TO HOT MELT ADHESIVE MIXING WITH MOLDING SOLVENTS AND BECOMING "RUNNY" IN HOT TEMPERATURES.
APPLY CLEANING SOLVENT, REMOVE EXCESS ADHESIVE AND PRESSURE WASH ADHESIVE RESIDUE FROM GLASS/MOLDING AREA. THE SOLVENT APPLICATION AND CLEANING PORTION SHOULD BE DONE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE ON A WARM MOLDING. IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO WARM THE MOLDING WITH A HEAT LAMP OR HEAT GUN PRIOR TO SOLVENT APPLICATION.
PROCEDURE: IF VEHICLE EXHIBITS THIS CONDITION:
1. LIFT EDGE OF REVEAL MOLDING AT GLASS SURFACE AND, USING A SOLVENT SUCH AS GM #1050172 TAR AND ROAD OIL REMOVER OR 3M #08984 GENERAL PURPOSE ADHESIVE CLEANER (OR EQUIVALENT), SQUIRT OR APPLY SOLVENT INTO THE AREA AROUND THE FULL MOLDING PERIMETER.
2. ALLOW SOLVENT TO REMAIN IN CAVITY AREA FOR AT LEAST TWO MINUTES.
3. USING A FLAT-BLADED TOOL (SMALL SCREWDRIVER, POCKET SCALE, ETC.) AS A SCRAPER, INSERT BETWEEN MOLDING AND GLASS SURFACE AND REMOVE EXCESS ADHESIVE FROM AREA.
4. RINSE AND CLEAN ANY ADHESIVE RESIDUE FROM GLASS/MOLDING SURFACE (OR PAINT SURFACE) USING GM P/N 1050172 TAR AND ROAD OIL REMOVER, 3M P/N 08984 GENERAL PURPOSE ADHESIVE CLEANER (OR EQUIVALENT).
5. PRESSURE WASH THE AREA TO ENSURE ADHESIVE RESIDUE AND SOLVENT HAS BEEN REMOVED.
6. IF NECESSARY, WASH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO CUSTOMER DELIVERY.
