WINDRUSH SOUND AT TOP OF DOORS

BULLETIN BEING REVISED TO CHANGE THE WARRANTY INFORMATION. PLEASE DISCARD BULLETIN 53-10-08 (SECTION 10 - BODY). ----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUBJECT: WINDRUSH SOUND AT TOP OF DOORS (INSTALL NEW AUXILIARY SEAL)

MODELS: 1994-95 BUICK CENTURY SPECIAL AND WAGON 1994-95 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS CIERA SL AND WAGON

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ABOUT WINDRUSH SOUND AT THE TOP OF THE DOORS.

CORRECTION:

INSTALL NEW AUXILIARY SEAL TO THE TOP OF THE DOOR FRAME AS SHOW IN FIGURE 1. FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE LISTED BELOW FOR INSTALLATION.

AUXILIARY WEATHERSTRIP P/N 10276396.

THE ABOVE PART NUMBER CONTAINS ENOUGH MATERIAL FOR ONE FRONT DOOR OR BOTH REAR DOORS.

FOR COMPLETE VEHICLE INSTALLATION, ORDER THREE (3) OF THE ABOVE PART NUMBERS.

PROCEDURE

1. WITH THE DOORS FULLY OPEN, CLEAN THE TOP SURFACE OF THE DOORS USING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ADHESIVE CLEANERS OR EQUIVALENT:

3M GENERAL PURPOSE ADHESIVE CLEANER, P/N 08984 AMERICAN SURE SEAL URETHANE CLEANER, P/N CUSH KENT ACRYSOL, P/N 20005

2. AFTER CLEANING WITH ABOVE, WIPE CLEAN WITH 50/50 SOLUTION OF ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AND WATER.

3. SURFACE SHOULD BE 65 DEGREES F (18 DEGREES C) OR HIGHER.

4. FOR THE FRONT DOORS, REMOVE PROTECTIVE BACKING FROM THE FOAM SEAL AND INSTALL THE SEAL STARTING AT THE REAR UPPER CORNER WORKING FORWARD AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1.

5. FOR REAR DOORS, CUT TO LENGTH AND INSTALL.

6. AFTER INSTALLATION, PRESS SEAL FIRMLY TO FULLY SEAT THE SEAL TO THE DOOR.
