Vehicle Speed Sensor Replacement 3800 L67

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
  4. Remove the drive axle shield.

  6. Remove the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.

  7. Object Number: 10516  Size: SH
  8. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt.
  9. Remove the vehicle speed sensor from the extension case.

  10. Object Number: 10711  Size: SH
  11. Remove the O-ring from the vehicle speed sensor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 10711  Size: SH
  1. Install the O-ring to the vehicle speed sensor.
  2. Install the vehicle speed sensor to the extension case.

  3. Object Number: 10516  Size: SH
  4. Install the vehicle speed sensor bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the vehicle speed sensor bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in). Refer to

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.
  7. Install the drive axle shield.
  8. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Body Front End.
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
