Ignition Control Module Replacement for Buick Century 1998
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect all electrical
connectors at ignition control module.
- Note the position of spark plug wires for installation.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires from ignition coils.
- Remove the ignition control module assembly from engine.
- Remove the screws (1)
securing coil assemblies to ignition control module.
- Disconnect the 3 coils (2) from ignition control module
(3).
Installation Procedure
- Install the coils (2)
to the ignition control module(3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Reinstall the screws(1).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4-5 N·m (40 lb in).
- Reinstall the fasteners
securing assembly to the engine.
Tighten
Fasteners to 8 N·m (70 lb. in.).
- Connect the spark plug wires as noted during the removal.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the ignition control module.
