  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Loosen the brake cables at the equalizer (2).

  5. Object Number: 177190  Size: SH
  6. Remove the cable from the actuator lever.
  7. Remove the parking brake return spring.

  8. Object Number: 177182  Size: SH
  9. Remove the cable from the parking brake bracket (8).
  10. Remove the parking brake bracket (8) from the support plate (7).
  11. Remove the parking brake actuator (5).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 177182  Size: SH
  1. Install the parking brake actuator (5).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the parking brake bracket (3) onto the support plate (7) bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the support plate bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the parking brake return spring.
  6. Install the cable onto the parking brake bracket.
  7. Install the cable onto the actuator lever.

  8. Object Number: 177170  Size: SH
  9. Tighten the nut on the equalizer (2) in order to remove the slack in the cable.

  10. Object Number: 177186  Size: SH
  11. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  12. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
