Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement
  2. Remove the passenger side SIR inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement
  3. Remove the brake pedal bracket and reinforcement. Refer to Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement
  4. Remove the air distribution ducts. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement

    5. Object Number: 486677 Size: SH
  5. Remove the retaining bolts and position the relay bracket aside.

    6. Object Number: 486680 Size: SH
  6. Remove the retaining bolts and position the Body Control Module (BCM) bracket aside.
  7. Release harness retaining clips and position the instrument panel wiring harness out the way.

    8. Object Number: 282301 Size: SH
  8. Remove the retaining bolts from the HVAC center module support bracket.
  9. Remove the HVAC module center support bracket.

    10. Object Number: 482597 Size: SH
  10. Remove the retaining bolts from the HVAC module upper support brackets.

    11. Object Number: 482587 Size: SH
  11. Remove the left cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts.

    12. Object Number: 482588 Size: SH
  12. Remove the right cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts.

    13. Object Number: 482600 Size: SH
  13. Remove the cross vehicle beam from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the cross vehicle beam to the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 482588 Size: SH
  2. Install the right cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts finger tight.

    3. Object Number: 482587 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the left cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar bolts finger tight.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the left and right cross vehicle beam bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  4. Install the retaining bolts to the HVAC module upper support brackets.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module upper support bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the HVAC module center support bracket.
  6. Install the retaining bolts to the HVAC module center support bracket.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module center support bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Position the instrument panel wiring harness and install harness retaining clips.

    8. Object Number: 486680 Size: SH
  8. Install the BCM bracket and the retaining bolts.

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the BCM bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Install the relay bracket and the retaining bolts.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the relay bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the air distribution ducts. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement
  11. Install the brake pedal bracket and reinforcement. Refer to Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement
  12. Install the passenger side SIR inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement
  13. Install the instrument panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement
