- Turn on the J 35628-A

- Read the key code that is on the display of the interrogator.

a key code value of 1 through 15?

- Write down the key code that is displayed on the J 35628-A
.
- Turn off the J 35628-A
.
- Connect the J 35628-A
.
- Insert the ignition key into the ignition key lock cylinder.
- Turn on the J 35628-A

- Turn the ignition switch to RUN and observe the display on the J 35628-A
.
Does the J 35628-A
display
a key code that matches the key code in step 2?

- Verify that the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
- Connect all of the connectors.
- Install any components that you removed.
- Connect a Tech 2 scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Use the Tech 2 in order to clear the BCM DTCs. Refer to
Clearing DTCs
in Body Control System.
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Use a Tech 2 scan tool in order to test for current BCM
DTCs.
Are any current BCM DTCs present?

- If the key code is still invalid, replace the key. Refer to

- If the connection is not poor, replace the ignition key lock cylinder.
