  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  4. Remove the IP fuse block access door.
  5. Important: With the AIR BAG Fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, The AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  6. Remove the AIR BAG Fuse from the fuse block.

  7. Object Number: 217456  Size: SH
  8. Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the driver yellow 2-way connector located at the base of the steering column.

  10. Object Number: 217461  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the driver yellow 2-way connector located at the base of the steering column.

  12. Object Number: 217465  Size: SH
  13. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the passenger yellow 2-way connector located to the right of the steering column.

  14. Object Number: 217468  Size: SH
  15. Disconnect the passenger yellow 2-way connector located to the right of the steering column.
  16. Important: Perform steps 11 - 12 if the vehicle is equipped with a driver side air bag.


    Object Number: 262991  Size: SH
  17. Move the driver seat back as far as possible to gain access to the driver side air bag yellow 2-way connector.
  18. Disconnect the driver side air bag yellow 2-way connector.
