  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  2. Close all the doors and turn the I/P lamp dimmer switch to the DOME position.

Are the courtesy lamps on?

  1. Remove the headlamp switch.
  2. Using a test lamp, probe the headlamp switch from the dome lamp switched output circuit to the dome lamp switched ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Replace the headlamp switch.

Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Using a test lamp connected to a known good ground, probe the dome lamp switched output circuit at the headlamp switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair a poor connection or an open the dome lamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for a poor connection or an open in the dome lamp switched output circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
