Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint (SIR) System.
  3. Remove the windshield side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  5. Remove the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  6. Remove the left and the right instrument panel insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement .
  7. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  8. Remove the instrument panel knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  9. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  10. Remove the hood latch release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
  11. Remove the bolts from the data link connector and position DLC harness aside.
  12. Remove the front door inside carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  13. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement
  14. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  15. Remove the inside air temperature sensor, if equipped. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  16. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  17. Remove the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  18. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  19. Remove the HVAC control assembly. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC - Manual or to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  20. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .

  22. Remove the bolts from the right side (end) instrument panel.

  23. Object Number: 311645  Size: SH
  24. Remove the center and lower bolts from the instrument panel.

  25. Object Number: 311642  Size: SH
  26. Remove the bolt from the left side (end) instrument panel.

  27. Object Number: 326084  Size: SH
  28. Remove the bolts from the upper instrument panel.
  29. Reposition the instrument panel wiring harness from the instrument panel assembly.
  30. Remove the instrument panel assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the instrument panel assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Position the instrument panel wiring harness to the instrument panel assembly.

  3. Object Number: 326084  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts to the upper instrument panel assembly.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the upper instrument panel assembly bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  6. Install the bolts to the left side (end) instrument panel assembly.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel assembly left side bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  8. Install the bolts to the center and lower instrument panel assembly.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel assembly center and lower bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  10. Install the bolts to the right side (end) instrument panel assembly.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel assembly right side bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  12. Align the fuse block to the cross vehicle beam and install the fuse block securing the locking tab.

  14. Connect the electrical connector to the instrument panel assembly compartment lamp.
  15. Install the instrument panel assembly compartment lamp into the instrument panel.
  16. Install the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  17. Install the HVAC control assembly. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual or to Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  18. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  19. Install the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  20. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  21. Install the inside air temperature sensor, if equipped. Refer to Inside Air Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC - Automatic.
  22. Install the instrument panel cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  23. Install the IP accessory trim plate, if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement
  24. Install the front door inside carpet retainers. Refer to Front Carpet Retainer Replacement in Interior Trim.
  25. Connect the data link connector (DLC) to the IP and install the bolts .
  26. Tighten
    Tighten the data link connector bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  27. Install the hood latch release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement in Body Front End.
  28. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  29. Install the knee bolster to the instrument panel. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  30. Connect the electrical connector to the driver information center (DIC), if equipped.
  31. Install the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
  32. Install the left and the right instrument panel insulators. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement .
  33. Install the front floor console, if equipped. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  34. Install the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  35. Install the windshield side upper garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  36. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint (SIR).
  37. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
