Do all of the stop lamps illuminate?

Are all the stop lamp inoperative?

Inspect the STOP LAMP fuse.

Is the fuse open?

  1. Disconnect the stop lamp switch.
  2. Probe the battery supply voltage circuit of the stoplamp switch connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Install a fused jumper between the battery supply voltage circuit and the stop lamp switch signal circuit of the stop lamp switch connector.

Do the stop lamps illuminate?

Determine if the center high mounted stop lamp is inoperative or the stop/turn lamps are inoperative.

Are the stop/turn lamps inoperative?

Are both of the stop/turn signals inoperative?

  1. Remove the inoperative stop/turn lamp bulb.
  2. Press the brake pedal.
  3. Probe the stop lamp switch signal circuit of the inoperative stop/turn lamp with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Press the brake pedal.
  2. Probe between the ground circuit and the stoplamp switch signal circuit of the inoperative stop/turn lamp with a test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Remove the inoperative center high mounted stop lamp bulb.
  2. Press the brake pedal.
  3. Probe the stop lamp switch signal circuit of the inoperative center high mounted stop lamp with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Press the brake pedal.
  2. Probe between the ground circuit and the stoplamp switch signal circuit of the inoperative center high mounted stop lamp with a test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 15

  1. Press the brake pedal.
  2. Backprobe the stop lamp switch signal circuit of connector C201 with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for an open or high resistance in the stop lamp supply voltage circuit of the inoperative stop/turn lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

    • The battery supply voltage circuit of the stop lamp switch
    • The stoplamp switch signal circuit of the stop lamp switch
    • The brake lamp supply voltage circuits of the turn signal switch

Repair a open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the inoperative stop/turn lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair a open or high resistance in the stop lamp switch signal circuit of the inoperative center high mounted stop lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the center high mounted stop lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
