Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the right front diagonal brace.

  3. Object Number: 513051  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the battery positive cable.

  5. Object Number: 513047  Size: SH
  6. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt (1).
  7. Remove the battery hold down retainer (2).
  8. Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.

  9. Remove the battery (3).

  10. Object Number: 201375  Size: SH
  11. Remove the battery insulator from the battery.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery insulator to the battery.

  2. Object Number: 513047  Size: SH

    Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during installation.

  3. Install the battery (3).
  4. Install the battery hold down retainer (2).
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the battery hold down retainer bolt (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the battery hold down retainer bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  8. Connect the battery positive cable to the battery.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the battery positive cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  10. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
