- Inspect the reaction sun gear and drum assembly (678) for the following:
- Install the reaction sun gear and drum assembly (678) into the case.
- Check that the lugs engage with the 1-2 support roller clutch inner race.

| • | Damaged reaction sun gear teeth |
| • | The band apply area of the drum for discoloration or wear |
| • | The welds connecting the sun gear to the drum for voids or cracks |
| • | A worn or damaged 1-2 support outer race |
