Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 12287  Size: SH
  1. Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the accelerator cable (5) from the accelerator pedal (1).
  3. Remove the bolt (3) and the stud (2) from the accelerator pedal.
  4. Remove the accelerator pedal (1) from the cowl (4).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the accelerator pedal (1) to the cowl (4).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the accelerator pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and the stud to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Install the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
  6. Important: Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Inspect for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.

  7. Install the left instrument panel sound insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
