J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 427348  Size: SH
  1. Remove the push-in retainers from the bottom of the rocker molding at the rocker panel, using the J 38778 .
  2. Remove the screw from the rocker molding at the front fender wheel opening edge
  3. Release the retainers from the rocker molding at the front fender.
  4. Release the retainer from the rocker molding at the quarter panel.
  5. Remove the rocker molding by pulling off, from front to the rear.
  6. Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.

  7. Drill the rivets from the rocker molding support using a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) drill bit.
  8. Remove the rocker molding support from the rocker panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 427346  Size: SH
  1. Align the rocker molding support to the first front hole in the rocker panel.
  2. Install a rivet to the first front hole in the rocker panel molding support.
  3. Install a rivet to the last rear hole in the rocker panel molding support.
  4. Install the remainder of the rivet to the rocker panel molding support.

  6. Align the rocker panel molding to the rocker panel.
  7. Install the tabs to the rocker molding support.
  8. Install the rocker panel molding retainers to the front fender.
  9. Install the rocker panel molding retainers to the quarter panel.
  10. Install the push-in retainers to the bottom of the rocker panel molding.
  11. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the screw from the rocker molding at the front fender wheel opening edge.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
