Did you perform the Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, perform the Chime Test in the BCM.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Open the driver door.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate when the driver's door is opened?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative in Lighting Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to park.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the LCM Lights On Chime parameter in the BCM Inputs data list.

Does the LCM Lights On Chime parameter display On?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C3.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the exterior lamp off signal circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn the headlamp switch to park.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Test the park lamp off signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Important: Program the replacement BCM.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
