Removal Procedure

    Important: In order to minimize door realignment, do not remove both door hinges at the same time. Do each hinge separately, and replace any broken hinges first.

  1. Open the door.

    2. Object Number: 316116 Size: SH
  2. Support the door.
  3. Remove the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  4. Remove the hinge spring.
  5. Use a rag in order to clean the hinge mounting surfaces on the door.
  6. Use a grease pencil or other suitable marker in order to mark the hinge location on the door surface.
  7. Remove the door side hinge bolts.
  8. Remove the hinge.

  9. Use a rag in order to clean the hinge mounting surface on the body pillar.
  10. Use a grease pencil or other suitable marker in order to mark the hinge location on the body pillar.

    11. Important: Do not loosen the cone adjuster bolt (2). The cone may fall down inside the pillar. This may create a rattle situation.

  11. Remove the two 13 mm body side hinge bolts (1).
  12. Remove the body side hinge.

Installation Procedure
  1. Align the new hinge in position with the old alignment marks.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Apply Locktite® Blue GM P/N 12345382, or Canadian P/N 10953489, or equivalent prior to installing the door side hinge bolts.

    3. Object Number: 316116 Size: SH
  3. Install the door side hinge bolts.

    4. Lightly tighten the bolts.


    Object Number: 316120 Size: SH
  4. Align the new body side hinge in position with the old alignment marks.
  5. Apply Locktite® Blue GM P/N 12345382, or Canadian P/N 10953489, or equivalent prior to installing the body side hinge bolts.
  6. Install the 13 mm body side hinge bolts (1)

    7. Lightly tighten the bolts.

  7. Position the door to install the intermediate bolts.
  8. Install the hinge spring.
  9. Install the intermediate door hinge bolts.

    10. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate door hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

    Tighten
    Tighten the body side and door side hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  10. Remove the door support.
  11. Adjust the door. Refer to Rear Door Adjustment .
  12. Close the door.
