Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement L26

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 284303  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the return hose from the cooler pipe/hose. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .
  3. Remove the cooler pipe/hose retaining bolt from the frame.
  4. Remove the cooler pipe/hose from the retaining clips on the frame.

  6. Remove the cooler pipe/hose from the clamps on the steering gear.
  7. Remove the wiring harness clip from the cooler pipe/hose.
  8. Remove the cooler pipe/hose from the steering gear.
  9. Remove the cooler pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 417973  Size: SH
  1. Install the cooler pipe/hose to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the cooler pipe/hose to the steering gear.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the wiring harness clip to the cooler pipe/hose.
  6. Install the cooler pipe/hose to the clips on the steering gear.

  7. Object Number: 284303  Size: SH
  8. Install the cooler pipe/hose to the retaining clip on the frame.
  9. Install the cooler pipe/hose retaining bolt to the frame.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the return hose to the cooler pipe/hose. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  15. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
