For 1990-2009 cars only
  1. Install new manual shaft oil seals to both sides of the transmission case using a socket and a hammer.
  2. Lubricate the new oil seals with A/T fluid.

  3. Object Number: 153952  Size: SH
  4. Install the manual shift shaft (2) and shift lever (1) to the transmission case.

  5. Object Number: 153956  Size: SH
  6. Install the manual shift lever pin (1) to the manual shift lever hub using a hammer.

  7. Object Number: 153957  Size: SH
  8. Slide the manual lever hub protection sleeve over the manual detent lever hub using a hammer and a chisel.

  9. Object Number: 153958  Size: SH
  10. Install the parking pawl rod (1) to the manual shift shaft.

  11. Object Number: 153960  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the following parking pawl components to the transmission case:
  13. • The pawl (1)
    • The pivot pin (2)
    • The torsion spring (3)
    • The plate
    • The plate bolts

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
