Models:.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME

GM Engineering has investigated reports of a rusty or corroded appearance of undercarriage components, including uncoated suspension fasteners, exhaust pipe and ball joint housings. This condition may be present on new vehicles being received at the dealer off the transport truck. During certain times of the year, the vehicles being produced in Oshawa, Ontario may be subjected to salt used to maintain roads in the winter months. This salt may be present on the plant premises, city streets around the plant (these vehicles are driven on city streets to get to the shipping lot) or on the transport truck during transit between the plant and the dealer. Some of the undercarriage components may have slight corrosion upon arrival at the dealer as a result of this salt exposure. The components with this appearance should be limited to those not in the clear vision of the customer. The Vehicle Technical Specifications specify that cosmetic corrosion on these parts that are out of the clear vision of the final customer is acceptable. These components have minimal protective coatings and surface corrosion can form on these parts that will not represent a safety or durability concern.

These components should not be replaced for this surface or cosmetic corrosion.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
