Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position.
  3. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the HIGH position.
  4. Observe the high beam indicator on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

Does the high beam indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the high beam headlamps illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - High Beams

  1. Turn OFF the ignition .
  2. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Place the headlamp switch in the HEAD position.
  5. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the HIGH position.
  6. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the high beam signal circuit of the instrument panel cluster.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Repair a high resistance or an open in the headlamp high beam signal circuit of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Replace the IPC. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup and programming.

Has the repair been made?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
