Makes 🢒 Buick 🢒 2000 🢒 Century (China) 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Controls - 2.5L (LB8) and 3.0L (L46) 🢒 Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    2. Object Number: 493261 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the hoses (3, 4) from the canister fittings (1, 2). Mark the hoses to install on the new canister.

    3. Object Number: 493275 Size: SH
  3. Remove the EVAP canister bracket to body bolt.
  4. Remove the EVAP canister assembly from the body

    5. Object Number: 493266 Size: SH
  5. Remove the screw from the EVAP mounting bracket.
  6. Separate the EVAP canister from the EVAP canister bracket.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the EVAP canister into the EVAP canister bracket.

    2. Object Number: 493266 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Reinstall the screw into the EVAP mounting bracket.

    3. Tighten
    Torque the screw to 3.0 N·m (27 lb. in).

  3. Position the EVAP canister assembly to the body.
  4. Reinstall the EVAP canister bracket to body bolt.

    5. Tighten
    Torque the screw to 3.0 N·m (27 lb. in).


    Object Number: 493261 Size: SH
  5. Reconnect the hoses (3, 4) to the canister fittings (1, 2).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
