Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Exhaust Pipe
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Suitably support the exhaust system.
- Remove the exhaust pipe
hangers.
- Inspect the exhaust pipe brackets for serviceability. Repair or
replace as necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust pipe
hangers.
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
- Lower the vehicle.
Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Exhaust Pipe Hanger Bracket
- The exhaust system uses
several different hangers. Insulators are used in conjunction with the hangers
to support the exhaust system.
- The exhaust pipe hanger is welded during assembly.
Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Pipe Rear Hanger Bracket
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator from the exhaust
pipe rear hanger bracket.
- Remove the exhaust pipe
rear hanger bolt from the rear axle assembly.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new exhaust
pipe rear hanger bracket to the rear axle assembly.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the exhaust
pipe rear hanger bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe rear hanger bolt to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator to the exhaust
pipe rear hanger bracket.
- Lower the vehicle.
Exhaust Muffler Insulator, Hanger, and Bracket Replacement Muffler Rear Hanger Bracket
Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support
the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Suitably support the exhaust system.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulators from the exhaust
muffler rear hanger bracket.
- Remove the rear bumper impact bar bolts.
- Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust muffler
rear hanger bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring

bumper impact bar bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulators to the exhaust
muffler rear hanger bracket.
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
- Lower the vehicle.
