Action

The linkage is adjusted improperly.
  1. Inspect the linkage.
  2. Service the linkage as needed. Refer to Linear Shift Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Linear Shift Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The shift lever is loose.

Service the shift lever as needed.
